KABAZA HAS BENEFITS

 Kabaza has benefits

Let's go! Let's go! Adona, let's go! Abwana, mukwera? Tiyenitu, mukwera? this is how almost every day Mr. Geniffer Phiri and other people do, riding a bicycle (kabaza). People buy bicycle with different purposes:

 Transportation

Bicycles are often used as a means of transportation, especially for short to medium distances. They are an efficient and eco-friendly alternative to cars or public transportation. Bicycles can help you commute to work, school, or run errands in a cost-effective and healthy way. Exercise and Fitness: Riding a bicycle is an excellent form of exercise that provides cardiovascular benefits, improves muscle strength, and enhances overall fitness. It can be an enjoyable way to stay active, burn calories, and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Recreation and Leisure

Bicycles are popular for recreational activities and leisurely rides. Whether it's exploring scenic routes, cycling through parks, or participating in organized rides, bicycles offer a means to enjoy the outdoors and connect with nature.

Sports and Competitions

Cycling encompasses a range of sports and competitive events. Road cycling, mountain biking, track cycling, and BMX are some examples. Bicycles are essential equipment for athletes and enthusiasts participating in races, endurance events, and competitions. Commuting and Urban Mobility, Bicycles can be an efficient mode of urban transportation, especially in congested city areas. They allow for easier maneuverability, require less parking space, and can often navigate through traffic more quickly than cars. Many cities have implemented bike-sharing programs to promote cycling as a viable commuting option. Touring and Adventure: Bicycles are commonly used for touring and long-distance adventures. Whether it's solo or group travel, cycling tours provide a unique way to explore new places, experience different cultures, and challenge oneself physically and mentally.

But most people here in Africa

use the same bicycle as a business tool for carrying goods and people to different places and get paid from doing that job and now the same bicycle is called kabaza. many people underlet this kind of business because it needs more power for a person to ride the bicycle, it consumes a lot of time and amount of money that people get from the business is very few.

Here in Malawi many people are still not educated, most of them drop out of school. Although other people educated but to get employed is another crucial thing that is still dwelling among youths nowadays. About 70 per cent of Malawi's population currently lives below the $2.15 international poverty line with about 46 per cent of its national income being held by the top 20 per cent of the population. Labor force, total in Malawi was reported at 8366090 in 2023, according to the World Bank collection of development indicators, compiled from officially recognized sources. Malawi - Labor force, total - actual values, historical data, forecasts and projections were sourced from the World Bank on April of 2024.

Statistics above surely there are just showing that Malawians are still struggling with poverty so kabaza is the one of the better solutions to people who are not employed, for example at Lilongwe university of agriculture and natural resources more especially on Bunda campus many people are doing this kind of business who are surviving throughout the year through kabaza and are able to say good things about kabaza. I took a walk around this campus to chill with these people and the first person who explained more about kabaza is Mr. Geniffer Phiri

This guy comes from Nakuyele village, he started this kind of business at M'tsinja trading center and moved to Bunda in 2017, he explained some problems, was saying that other people killed if they travel in night hours but he emphasized more on the significant of this business of riding a bicycle, he has got a plot with some rent houses, he has managed to pay a school fee for his son who is in form 3 at Dzeza secondary school, he was complaining about the behavior of other two children of not having intention of going to school but Mr. Geniffer Phiri has done a wonderful thing to make sure that they are living in good life, with the same money from Kabaza these two children Chisomo and Madalitso are doing a business of selling and buying livestock.

Its not only Mr. Geniffer Phiri but also Mr. Archangel Yotam,

this man  said that he tasted this kind of business in 2018 and he don't think of shifting to another business just because of sweetness he has tasted from this kind of business, he lives alone peacefully, he disjointed with his wife. Mr. Archangel Yotam has got two hectors long farm which is used as a multiplier of money he gets from Kabaza, he grows maize almost each and every year without meeting with some problems like, lacking money of buying fertilizer, paying laborers and other resources. He harvests almost 8 tons and he has built a good house now.

This is how many people in Lilongwe, (Bunda) have benefited from  Kabaza but people have observed that this business needs to be done at right time and place.😀😀😀😀
